2023 Jeep Grand-Cherokee-4xe Air Filter in Danvers, MA

The engine air filter sits inside a sealed airbox in the engine bay, typically on one side of the compartment with clips or screws securing the lid.

This placement lets the 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 draw clean intake air while shielding the filter from debris. During service in Danvers, our technicians open the airbox, inspect the housing seal, and verify there’s no obstruction upstream to the mass air flow path. Access is designed to be straightforward and non-invasive.

• Located in the engine bay inside a rectangular or square airbox
• Secured by clips or screws; no special tools usually required to open
• Checked for proper seal to prevent unfiltered air bypass

The cabin air filter is typically located behind the glove box, within the HVAC intake housing.

This location filters outside air before it enters the passenger compartment, reducing dust, pollen, and road odors. Access often involves lowering or removing the glove box to reach a small service door. Our Danvers service team verifies door orientation and gasket seating to ensure proper airflow and filtration.

• Behind the glove box in most configurations
• Access panel on the HVAC housing for filter replacement
• Optional activated carbon media available for odor control

The engine air filter cleans air for combustion, while the cabin air filter cleans air for passengers via the HVAC system.

On the 2.0L turbo PHEV powertrain, a clean engine filter protects the turbo, intake tract, and sensors; the cabin filter protects occupants from particulates and allergens. Both contribute to efficiency and comfort but live in different systems and use different media designs.

• Engine filter: protects intake, turbocharger, and sensors
• Cabin filter: improves in-cabin air quality and HVAC performance
• Different locations, service doors, and media options

Common signs include reduced power, lower fuel economy, and a rougher idle for the engine filter, plus weak airflow or musty odors for the cabin filter.

As debris loads the media, the 2.0L turbo may feel sluggish and the HVAC may struggle to maintain airflow. In New England driving, road grit and seasonal pollen can accelerate buildup. Our Danvers technicians inspect filter condition and adjacent housings to rule out water intrusion or sealing issues.

• Engine: hesitation, poorer MPG, audible intake strain
• Cabin: diminished fan output at higher speeds, odors
• Visible dirt or darkened pleats on either filter

Yes—engine filters are often DIY-friendly, while cabin filters may require glove box removal, and a dealer adds OEM-spec parts plus intake and sensor checks.

Many owners can open the engine airbox and swap the element carefully. The cabin filter’s access door and trim can be trickier, and orientation matters. Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Danvers also inspects the airbox seal, snorkel, and MAF area and installs OEM-spec media.

• DIY: engine filter typically simple with hand tools
• Cabin filter: access panel behind glove box, careful orientation
• Dealer adds housing/seal checks and correct-spec media

Yes—the cabin air filter is accessed by lowering the glove box to reach the HVAC intake panel.

This design streamlines access without removing the dashboard, but care is needed to avoid damaging tabs and to seat the filter correctly. Our Danvers technicians verify airflow direction arrows and latch the door securely to prevent bypass.

• Glove box lowered to expose HVAC access door
• Filter orientation arrows must face airflow direction
• Panel door re-latched to ensure airtight seal

Mopar OEM-spec filters matched to the 2.0L turbo PHEV engine and the Grand Cherokee 4xe HVAC housing are the correct fit.

Using the exact application-specific filter ensures proper sealing and avoids intake turbulence or cabin bypass leaks. Our parts counter and service department verify fitment by VIN to eliminate guesswork and ensure the correct media type.

• Engine: Mopar filter sized for the 2.0L turbo intake airbox
• Cabin: Mopar HVAC filter, standard or activated carbon media
• VIN-based lookup confirms precise fitment
